Sattu prepared from roasted gram is rich in protein, fiber and many essential nutrients, which helps in keeping the stomach full for a long time.
Sattu Paratha is especially liked in Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. If it is served with curd, green chutney or pickle, its taste increases even more.
Ingredients for making Sattu Paratha
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1 cup sattu
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 2 finely chopped green chillies
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp celery
- 1 tbsp green coriander
- salt as per taste
- Oil or ghee as required
- A little pickle masala (optional)
Prepare delicious stuffing like this
First of all take Sattu in a vessel. Add finely chopped onion, green chilli, ginger, green coriander, celery, salt and pickle masala and mix well.
Now prepare the mixture by adding water little by little. Keep in mind that the stuffing should not be too wet. Light moist and crumbly stuffing is considered best for paratha.
How to make Sattu Paratha
First of all, knead the wheat flour and keep it covered for 15 to 20 minutes. After this, make a medium sized ball of dough and fill the prepared Sattu stuffing in it.
After filling the stuffing, close the dough well from all sides. Now roll the paratha with light hands. Keep in mind that applying too much pressure may cause the paratha to burst.
Heat a tawa and put paratha on it. When light brown marks start appearing on one side, turn it. Now apply ghee or oil on both sides and fry until golden and crisp.
Easy tips to prevent paratha from bursting
- Do not keep the stuffing too dry or too wet.
- Knead the dough a little soft.
- After filling the stuffing, seal the edges well.
- Always roll the paratha with light hands.
How to serve?
Serve hot Sattu Paratha with curd, green chutney, pickle or white butter. It is a great option for breakfast as well as lunch and tiffin.
