Because, telecom companies reactivate the closed number within 45 to 90 days. In that case, the ownership of your old number goes to someone else. As a result that person can get all your OTP. 1. Currently, phone number is used to log in to various apps including mail, payment. After getting a new number, first log in to all apps with it. But first change the number in Aadhaar card. Then to the bank.

2. Just adding new numbers is not enough. Wherever the old number was used, delete it.

3. Turn off SMS based verification.
