World Cup Fever Boosts Local Jersey Businesses in Solo

One of the local jersey business owners in Solo, Nofi Setiawan of NS Jersey, shared his predictions for the champion and runner-up of Group A.

Before revealing his predictions, Nofi recounted how he started his jersey business.

He explained that his business journey began when he was still in high school.

“The background of this business comes from my studies in Marketing. We had to do practical exams, so I decided to test this business idea during school. It was also my hobby, so I continued selling little by little after graduation until now,” Nofi told TribunWow.com on Wednesday (10 June 2026).

“Alhamdulillah, it’s grown quite well now. I sell two types of adult jerseys: the standard stadium version and the player issue version. I also sell shorts and kids’ jerseys. That’s a bit about how I started,” he added.

Nofi began taking his business more seriously after the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia.

“If I trace it back, it started around 2020 just as a hobby to earn a little money. But after the Covid pandemic, I began to take it seriously and expanded the business,” he explained.

Regarding the 2026 World Cup and the public enthusiasm for jerseys, Nofi noted that sales tend to rise after the group stage concludes.

“Usually, the demand picks up right after the group stage,” he said.

According to Nofi, the most popular and best-selling jerseys are from European countries, especially Germany and France.

Besides Germany and France, Latin American powerhouses Brazil and Argentina are also in high demand.

“The top sellers are definitely Germany and France. Portugal comes next, mainly because of Ronaldo fans. Then there’s Argentina and Brazil. England and the Netherlands are less hyped,” Nofi explained.

Interestingly, Dutch jerseys are particularly popular in Eastern Indonesia.

“The Netherlands jerseys are often shipped to Eastern Indonesia because many residents there have Dutch ancestry, so we get frequent orders from that region,” he added.

The Solo-based entrepreneur mentioned that customers usually buy jerseys for three main reasons.

“From my experience, the buyers are divided into three groups: those who like the design, those who support specific players like Ronaldo, Mbappe, or Messi and follow their countries, and those who choose based on their budget,” he said.

Nofi shared that one of his most memorable moments in business came when old stock suddenly sold out because the team advanced far in the tournament.

“The most memorable thing for me is when old stock sells because the team performs well. For example, during 2022, I still had Argentina jerseys, and when they reached the semifinals, demand surged, and prices went up automatically,” he recalled.

He also revealed that his farthest shipments were to Papua and Maluku.

“I’ve shipped jerseys all the way to Papua and Maluku. Usually, those buyers are individuals, not resellers. The largest shipment I’ve done was 12 pieces. Buyers there often pool orders with friends to save on shipping costs,” Nofi explained.
