There is welcome news for millions of farmers across the country. The wait for the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan) is about to end. The government has officially announced when the sum of ₹2,000 will be deposited into the bank accounts of eligible farmers. This amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' accounts, providing financial assistance for farming and household needs.

When will the 23rd installment be released?
Information shared on the scheme's official social media platform, 'X' (formerly Twitter), indicates that the 23rd installment will be released on June 20, 2026. Under this initiative, ₹2,000 will be sent directly to the accounts of eligible farmers. Previously, there was speculation among farmers that the installment might arrive towards the end of June, but the date has now been clarified.

What is the PM-Kisan Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was launched on February 24, 2019. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually. This amount is transferred to the farmers' bank accounts in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. So far, 22 installments have been released, and the 23rd installment is due soon.

Which farmers might not receive the installment?
However, not all farmers will receive the benefit this time, just as in previous instances. The installment could be withheld for farmers who have not completed the necessary formalities, such as:

Failure to complete the beneficiary's e-KYC.
Not having a Farmer ID.
Additionally, errors in bank account details—such as an incorrect account number or IFSC code—could lead to payment issues.
How to check your status
If you wish to know whether the installment will be credited to your account, you can check the details online. To do so:

Visit the official PM-Kisan website.
Go to the 'Farmers Corner' section and click on the 'Know Your Status' option.
Enter your registration number and the captcha code. Here, you can also check the status of e-KYC, Aadhaar-bank account linking, and land record linking.
If your installment was previously withheld for any reason but you have now completed all the necessary procedures, you may receive the scheme's benefits again in the future. In some cases, previously withheld installments may also be released following an eligibility verification.
