The high-profile death case of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal continues to reveal shocking new details. What was initially reported as a tragic trekking accident is now being investigated as a possible premeditated murder. The FIR filed in connection with the death of the 26-year-old, who fell into a 400-foot-deep gorge at Lohagad Fort, has raised several disturbing questions and added new layers of mystery to the case.
One of the most startling revelations in the FIR is that Ketan had reportedly become suspicious of his fiancée, Siya Goyal, well before his death. According to the complaint, he repeatedly asked family members whether her background had been thoroughly verified. Investigators are now examining claims that Siya's phone was frequently busy and that she often mentioned a man named Chetan Chaudhary during conversations.
Ketan Noticed Changes in Siya's Behaviour
The complaint was filed by Ketan's father, Pune-based builder Vishal Devichand Agarwal, who outlined several developments that, in hindsight, appear significant.
According to the FIR, Ketan and Siya, who got engaged in February 2026 through a family-arranged match, regularly met and travelled together after their engagement. However, Ketan gradually began noticing changes in her behaviour. He reportedly told family members that Siya would frequently argue over minor issues and repeatedly insist on visiting Lohagad Fort.
The family claimed that the couple had already visited the fort on May 31 and June 14, yet Siya continued pressing for additional trips to the same location. Investigators are now treating these details as important leads.
Engagement and Growing Suspicion
The FIR states that Ketan and Siya's engagement ceremony was held at a hotel in Pune in February this year. As their meetings increased following the engagement, Ketan allegedly voiced concerns about her conduct and questioned whether her background had been adequately investigated.
Family members reassured him because the alliance had been arranged through trusted relatives. However, Ketan remained uneasy and reportedly pointed out that Siya's phone was often busy and that she frequently referred to a man named Chetan Chaudhary.
Birthday Trip to Lohagad Fort
According to the complaint, on June 17—one day before the incident—Siya allegedly called Ketan and insisted on celebrating her birthday at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
Initially, Ketan's mother was reluctant to allow the trip, but Siya reportedly persisted until the family agreed. The next morning, Ketan left home at around 8:20 am and met Siya near Kiwale Bridge on the Pune-Mumbai Highway before heading to Lohagad.
At approximately 10:45 am, Ketan's family received a call from Siya's mother informing them that he had fallen into the gorge at Lohagad Fort.
By the time family members arrived, police and local rescue teams were already conducting search operations. Ketan was later declared dead by doctors.
While the incident was initially treated as an accident, family members claim several aspects of Siya's behaviour appeared unusual. As per family members, she did not appear visibly distressed even after Ketan's body was recovered, further deepening their suspicions.
Family Revisits the Spot
After Ketan's funeral, family members returned to the site on June 21 to inspect the location.
Following their visit, they concluded that it would have been difficult for someone to accidentally slip and fall from that particular spot. Based on Ketan's earlier concerns and their observations at the scene, the family believes the incident may have been the result of a planned conspiracy.
Alleged First Murder Attempt on June 14
Ketan's father has also alleged that an earlier attempt on his son's life took place on June 14 during a previous visit to Lohagad Fort.
Ketan's father alleges that Siya pushed Ketan from behind, causing him to slide toward the edge of the gorge. However, he reportedly survived after grabbing onto nearby bushes.
He further claims that Siya immediately began shouting "snake, snake" and pretended she had pushed him while trying to save him from danger. Family members believe this was the first failed attempt to kill Ketan.
Murder Conspiracy Charges Against Siya and Chetan
The FIR accuses Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, of conspiring to eliminate Ketan. The complaint alleges that the two planned and executed the fatal act by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort.
Based on the allegations and evidence collected so far, police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 103(1) – Murder and Section 61(2) – Criminal Conspiracy
Dream Wedding Plans End in Tragedy
The tragedy has become even more heartbreaking because Ketan and Siya were scheduled to marry next month in Udaipur.
According to family members, preparations for the lavish wedding were in full swing. A grand palace had been booked for the ceremony, and two chartered aircraft were reportedly arranged to transport guests.
What was meant to be a celebration of a new beginning has instead plunged the family into grief. The house that was once bustling with wedding preparations is now filled with mourning following Ketan's untimely death.
