In the early hours of Wednesday, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale struck western Venezuela, causing widespread shaking across the nation and tremors felt in various Caribbean regions. The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), approximately 21 kilometers west of Morón in the Yaracuy state, at 03:34:31 UTC.

Residents in areas to the west of Caracas experienced intense shaking, and the tremors were also reported in Aruba, Curaçao, and Guyana. In response to the earthquake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) issued a tsunami advisory for Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and the British Virgin Islands, cautioning that dangerous tsunami waves could occur within 300 kilometers of the epicenter along the coasts of Venezuela, Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire.

As of now, there have been no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries. Authorities are actively monitoring changes in sea levels and evaluating the earthquake's impact, while residents in coastal areas are advised to stay vigilant for potential aftershocks and tsunami threats.
