Mumbai, June 27: Unseeded Gandhar Patwardhan scored a shock win against fifth seed Vivaan Waingankar pulling off a 15-11, 15-12 victory in a Boys’ U-13 singles round 32 match of the 1st ACE Realty-Yonex Sunrise Maharashtra State Sub-junior (U-11 & U-13) Selection Badminton Tournament 2026, organised by Maharashtra Badminton Association and Rudrani Badminton Academy and played at the Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Mulund, West on Saturday.
The tournament is jointly conducted by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and Brihanmumbai Krida Ani Lalit Kala Pratisthan (BKLP).
In another match, fourth seed Shreeansh Naidu got the better of Kartik Naidu registering a 15-11, 15-8 victory to advance to the prequarter-finals.
In a Mixed U-13 Doubles action, top seeds Aadiraj Shetty and Hazel Joshi overcame a spirited challenge from VaradChitale and Purva Hande posting a 15-7, 15-12 win to progress to the quarter-finals.
