Helmed by Jeethu Madhavan this Malayalam horror-comedy drama features a talented ensemble cast including Soubin Shahir Arjun Ashokan Sajin Gopu and Siju Sunny. The storyline revolves around seven friends sharing a rented place in Bangalore. One fine night they experiment with a Ouja Board to summon spirits leading to unexpected turn of events blending horror with exceptionally funny moments. What turns out to be more interesting is a photo of the actual seven friends in the movie claiming that the film is based on real-life events. Made on a modest budget of Rs 1.75 to Rs 3 crore Romancham earned Rs 70 crore becoming an unexpected hit at the box office. With a commendable IMDb rating of 7.5 the film is available in multiple languages on Disney+ Hotstar. If youre a fan of horror-comedy Romancham is a must-watch. Following its theatrical debut the film garnered significant traction on digital as well. Moreover Romanchams massive success also paved the way for its Bollywood remake titled Kapkapii. Directed by the late Sangeeth Sivan the film features Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles alongside supporting cast including Sonia Rathee Siddhi Idnani Abishek Kumar Jay Thakkar Varun Pandey Dherendra Tiwari and Dinkar Sharma. Bankrolled by Jayesh Patel and Umesh Kumar the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 23 2025.
