Meta has released new updates to make the Status feature more attractive for WhatsApp users. Now users will be able to add collages, music, and photos to their stories i.e. Status by making stickers. These changes point to experiences like Instagram and Facebook Stories. WhatsApp's new "Layout" feature allows users to create a collage of photos and share it in status. This feature is similar to the Layout option of Instagram Stories, in which multiple photos can be added in a single frame.
Convert music to status or sticker.
Now users can share a song in status or use it as a music sticker. From March 2024, there was a facility to add 15-second music clips to photo status and 60-second clips to video status on WhatsApp. In the new update, these can also be posted as stickers.
Convert photo to sticker.
WhatsApp is now allowing users to convert any photo into a sticker and put it in status. Also, the new "Add Yours" sticker gives the user the option to start a conversation on a topic. Friends can share their status updates in response to the same sticker. Meta has confirmed that all these features will roll out soon and will be available to all users in the next few months. All status updates will be end-to-end encrypted and will be visible only to saved contacts.
A username feature is coming to WhatsApp
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new Username feature in iOS beta version 25.17.10.70. This will allow users to start a chat without sharing the phone number.
