The District Sessions Court in Shillong has granted a two-day police custody extension for Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha, the prime accused in the murder case of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi. Three other accused - Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand - have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
Advocate Tushar Chanda, quoted by news agency ANI, confirmed, "Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha have been sent to two-day police custody, while the other accused have been sent to 14-day judicial custody."
Earlier today, the Meghalaya police investigation team questioned several acquaintances of the main accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha. According to reports, the cops also interrogated a taxi driver who allegedly ferried Sonam from Indore to Uttar Pradesh after she fled Meghalaya following the murder.
Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam had tied the knot on 11 May and went missing on 23 May during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja's decomposed body was discovered on 2 June in a deep gorge near a waterfall in the Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district.
