The UK's coastline boasts an impressive mix of scenery, from rocky shores to golden sand beaches- and the best part about it is that so much of it can simply be explored by foot. Whether it's wandering along dramatic valleys or tropical bays that could rival the Caribbean, one avid hiker has shared a route that he claims is the best coastal hike in the whole of the UK.
Tom Prout has been documenting his travels around Cornwall and Devon in his van and recently shared a route that included what he said were "four of the most surreal beaches I've ever seen in the UK". Stretching along seven miles of coastline, featuring stops at white sand beaches and pretty fishing ports, the route from Penberth to Porthgwarra in West Cornwall takes around four hours to complete.
Starting at Penberth, a picturesque cove which was once a flourishing fishing village, visitors can park at Treen Farm Car Park to start the hike. From here, Tom instructs viewers to "head out of the car park" and follow the road back up "before turning right and following the sign for Penberth".
Coming into Penberth "was when the real magic started to begin" and Tom shared clips of the crystal clear waters and grassy clifftops that greet you at the start of the seven mile circular trail along the coast.
Passing by the shores of Pedn Vounder, Porthcurno, Chapel Porth and Porthgwarra, Tom said: "These had to be some of the most tropical beaches I've ever seen and the best bit was absolutely everything was accessible by foot."

While you can access the beaches by foot, Anna Clark, who runs the blog The Cornish Life, warns that the path down to Pedn Vounder is rugged and requires climbing down part of a cliff. In fact, it's worth noting that access to each of the beaches can be rocky and steep in places.
You can also walk the coast without stopping at the beaches, and simply take in the views from above, but Tom advises picking a sunny day to do the route in order to make the most of the scenery.
The route is part of the Penwith Heritage Coast, a 40-mile stretch of the South West Coast Path that travels between St Ives and Penzance that boasts an impressive history dating back to Roman traders.
As well as breathtaking views over the coastline and stops at spotless beaches, the route passes by Logan Rock that's located across the bay from Porthcurno. The rocking stone, which was once a tourist attraction, was famously dislodged by a group of drunk sailors in 1824.
One follower commented on the video and said of the trail: "I've done that one many times! It's definitely the best." Once you reach Porthgwarra, the trail circles back to the car park at Penberth.
The exact location for parking is located at TR19 6LG, and Tom also mentions his favourite cafe Farm + Fort is located here too, open from 9am-3pm daily.
