Indonesia’s holiday island Bali shows no sign of losing its appeal as it was named the best at this year’s Travel+Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific.
“Feted for its immense beauty, laidback vibe, and deep-rooted Hindu/Animist culture, Indonesia’s “Island of the Gods” shows no sign of losing its appeal. Much of the action is centered upon a small area in south Bali where opulent resorts, sleek beach clubs and an array of world-class dining options, ranging from healthy bowls to high-end feasts, rule the roost,” the magazine wrote.
Visitors to Bali can experience temple dances, immerse in the magic of traditional Balinese spiritualism, and luxuriate in the glorious surroundings of some of the island’s lesser-known enclaves.
A highlight for many is Ubud, Bali’s cultural capital.
Koh Samui in Thailand came in second, followed by Vietnam’s Phu Quoc.
Palawan in the Philippines ranked fourth, followed by Phuket in Thailand and Langkawi in Malaysia.
Indonesia is the Philippines.
Nominees were selected by the Travel+Leisure team of editors and expert contributors across Asia Pacific, and the winners were chosen based on a public vote.
Bali attracted 6.3 million international visitors in 2024, exceeding pre-pandemic levels, and aims to receive 6.5 million tourists this year.
Local authorities have stepped up efforts to address visa violations and inappropriate behavior by foreign visitors in a bid to protect the island’s image and promote responsible tourism.
