Increase in coal production in India

Business Business: India’s domestic coal production rose 3.6% to 81.57 million tonnes in April 2025, which was 78.71 million tonnes this month last year. However, the performance of Coal India Limited (CIL) was weak than expected. The company extracted 62.1 million tonnes of coal in April, compared to 61.8 million tonnes this month last year. The total production of CIL in the entire financial year 2024-25 was 781.1 million tonnes, which is about 7% less than the target.
