PTC News Desk: A 24-year old Indian woman went missing in the United States just days after she arrived for her arranged marriage.
The woman has been identified as Simran Simran was last seen shortly after her arrival from India in New Jersey on June 20. The surveillance videos scrutinised by Lindenwold police showed her checking phone and looking around-apparently waiting for someone before she went missing on Wednesday, five days after her arrival.
Investigators were told that Simran, who had arrived in the US from India on June 20, had come to the country for an arranged marriage.
Simran was seen in grey sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip-flops and small diamond earrings. The authorities have made several efforts to reach her relatives in India but to no avail. The authorities are also exploring the possibility that the marriage was a mere excuse for her to obtain free travel across the United States.
"At this time there are no known family members in India to contact to obtain information on her possible whereabouts," Lindenwold police said on Thursday. Anyone with information about her whereabouts has been requested to contact Lindenwold Police Detective Joe Tomasetti.
