Qatar suspends all air traffic amid Iranian missile attack threat to US bases

In response to escalating regional tensions, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the temporary suspension of all air navigation in the country’s airspace on June 23, 2025. The decision follows reports of Iran launching six missiles targeting US military bases in Qatar, including the Al Udeid Air Base.

The suspension is described as a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors amid heightened security threats. Explosions were reported over Doha on Monday evening, with US and UK embassies urging citizens to shelter in place.

Qatar emphasized that the security and safety of everyone on its soil is a top priority and confirmed that air defense systems successfully intercepted the missiles. No casualties were reported due to prior evacuation protocols at the targeted base.

The Ministry assured continued monitoring of the situation in coordination with regional and international partners and promised public updates through official channels.

This latest move comes as Qatar strongly condemned the Iranian strike, calling it a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and international law, vowing to respond in kind.
