BJP Begins Election Process in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially commenced the election process for its Odisha unit chief, as announced by a party official in Bhubaneswar.

Voting is scheduled for July 1, with the results for the state unit president to be revealed on the same day, according to Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, who will oversee the election as the state returning officer.

Sarangi emphasized that conducting elections is integral to the BJP's structure, noting that elections at various levels, from booth to district, have already been completed. The process for electing the state president began on Sunday.

He confirmed that the organizational election process is expected to conclude by July 1.

The finalized voters' list was created after addressing objections to an initial draft.

As per the BJP's constitution, eligible voters include district presidents, state council members, and 10% of the MLAs and MPs.

Sarangi outlined the election timeline, stating that candidates interested in the state president position can submit their nomination papers on Monday between 11 am and 2 pm.

Following the scrutiny and resolution of any complaints from 2 pm to 3 pm, the final list of nominations will be published at 4 pm.

Polling for the position will take place on July 1 from 10 am to 12 pm, with results expected by 12:30 pm.

Additionally, the BJP plans to hold elections for national council members representing Odisha.

Sanjay Jaiswal, an MP from Bihar, has been designated as the observer for this election and is set to arrive on Monday.
