Dhaka: Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, has made a big statement about the next year’s general election in the country. Yunus has claimed that this time the general election will be the most reliable and peaceful in the history of Bangladesh. For this, the government has taken many important steps. However, it is not yet decided whether Yunus himself will submit a claim in this election.

According to the government news agency Bangladesh Sangabad Sanstha (BSS), Yunus’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam made this comment on Saturday during a conversation with reporters in Khulna city. Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus announced last month that the general elections in Bangladesh will be held in April next year.

The most peaceful election in history

Alam said, the upcoming national elections will be the most reliable and peaceful elections in the history of the country. He said that in July 2024, the primary goal of a large -scale rebellion to remove the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina was to restore democracy in Bangladesh. He said that the interim government has taken all necessary steps to ensure independent and fair elections.

On August 5 last year, Sheikh Hasina moved to India after his withdrawal from power after a widespread protests led by students. Last week, the Interim government formed a committee to investigate allegations of irregularities, corruption and administrative involvement in the general elections of 2014, 2018 and 2024.

Hasina accused of rigging in election

Mohammad Yunus has formed a committee to investigate the fairness of three general elections (2014, 2018 and 2024) during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure in Bangladesh. These elections during Hasina’s tenure have been in controversies for a long time. Several opposition parties in Bangladesh allege that the ruling Awami League misused the administration, security agencies and the Election Commission to influence these elections. If these allegations are proved on Sheikh Hasina, then their difficulties may increase further.
