Air India flight was coming to Delhi from Tokyo, Kolkata diverted; Investigation continues

Tokyo Delhi Air India Flight: Air India flight coming from Tokyo to Delhi was diverted to Kolkata on Sunday due to continuous high temperatures in the cabin. AI357 (Air India Flight AI357), flying from Haneda Airport in Tokyo to Delhi, was diverted as a precautionary precaution after passengers and crew experienced a continuous warm temperature in the cabin.

In an official statement, an Air India spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft landed safely in Kolkata, where it was currently being technical investigation. The airline’s statement said that alternative arrangements are being made to take our passengers to Delhi at the earliest.

Diverted due to hot temperature

Air India issued a statement saying, “Air India flight AI357, which flew from Haneda to Delhi on 29 June, was diverted to Kolkata, a precautionary heroic temperature in the cabin.” Air India said that the aircraft is still being investigated. He said that his ground teams in Kolkata are providing all the necessary assistance to passengers to reduce the inconvenience caused by this unexpected diversion.

Flight returned to Mumbai

In another case, an Air India flight going from Mumbai to Chennai had to return after the smell of burning in the cabin. The incident occurred on 27 June in Flight AI639. The aircraft landed safely in Mumbai and passengers were taken into another aircraft. The spokesperson said, “Precautionary return for safety. Our ground colleagues assisted passengers to reduce the disruption.” An Air India spokesman said, “The AI639 flight, flight from Mumbai to Chennai on Friday, June 27, 2025, made a precautionary air return due to the burn smell in the cabin.”

A statement issued by an Air India spokesperson said, “A non-specific security warning was detected on one of our aircraft. Standard security procedures were duly completed, and the aircraft has been approved for the next flight. Air India gives a top priority to the safety of its passengers and crew.”

The airline also said that the ground staff in Kolkata is assisting passengers and making alternative arrangements to send them to Delhi as soon as possible. The statement said, ‘Our ground colleagues in Kolkata are providing all the necessary assistance to passengers to reduce the inconvenience caused by this unexpected diversion. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to our passengers. ‘
