Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The recruitment of police inspectors will now be conducted along the lines of the Public Service Commission (PSC) framework by the Employees Selection Board (ESB), which will conduct the exam, officials said.

The last recruitment for sub-inspector (SI) posts was conducted by the then recruitment agency Vyapam in 2018. Officials said that earlier, the plan was to engage PSC in conducting the exam, but due to technical reasons, it was decided that the ESB would handle the recruitment process.

ADG recruitment and selection, Sonali Mishra, told Free Press that recruitment for around 500 SI posts will be done through the ESB. “The exam pattern will be similar to state civil services, with a preliminary exam, main exam, physical fitness test, and interview,” Mishra said. Earlier,  the selection process included just a written exam, physical test, and interview.

The three-layer exam  besides the physical test will help the department to get academically stronger brains, the officer added.

Regarding SI and constable recruitments, a file has been sent to the state government for approval. Mishra noted that there were queries related to employment portal registration, OBC reservation, and a few other points. The final draft for the exam will be sent to the ESB soon, after which the process will begin.

For the recruitment of police constables and SI, a file has been sent to the state government for the approval, said the ADG. She further stated that there were a few queries related to registration on employment portal, OBC reservation and a few other points. Shortly, the final draft for the exam will be sent to the ESB soon and thereafter the exam process will begin.

SI recruitment pending since 2018

In 2014, applications were invited to fill 720 SI posts. In 2015, the recruitment was conducted for 668 posts, while in 2016 as many as 863 posts were filled. Next year the recruitment was done against 611 posts. The PHQ officials claimed that due to Covid-19 pandemic, the recruitment for 2018 was delayed. No SI examinations have been held since then, and many aspirants have become overage. Although the state government had given a 3-year relaxation in the upper age limit for recruitment exams, this period expired in 2023 and the recruitment process is yet to begin.

Academically strong candidates will be recruited

Sonali Mishra, ADG -Recruitment and Selection, said, “Three-stage exam process beyond the physical test will help the department recruit academically strong candidates.”
