Pat Cummins created yet another record on Day 2 of the first Test of the Frank Worrell Trophy between Australia and the West Indies on Thursday (June 26) at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, as he broke a massive record set 62 years ago.
After taking the wicket of Keacy Carthy on the final session of play on Day 3, Cummins dismissed Roston Chase in the second session of play on Day. The West Indies captain put the hosts back on track with a solid knock of 44 and was looking set to give the hosts a lead before Cummins trapped him in front of the stumps.

With the wicket of Carthy levelled Richie Benaud's record for the most wickets by an Australian captain in Test cricket was levelled before going past him in the elite list with Chase's dismissal. Cummins is now second in the history of the game's longest format for captains with most dismissals with the ball and is behind only legendary Pakistan skipper Imran Khan.

Cummins also has the joint-second most five-wicket hauls by a captain (9), with Imran (10) leading the list. However, Benaud continues to hold the record for the most wickets by a spin bowler as captain.
Cummins took charge of the Australian team in Test cricket in 2021 and has led them in 28 matches so far. In comparison, Benaud had led Australia in 35 games while Imran took charge of the Pakistan team in 48 matches in red-ball cricket.
In his tenure as Test captain, Cummins led Australia to the World Test Championship (WTC) title in 2023 as well as the final in 2025.
