1. Dark leafy greens
According to dietitian Catalina Ruz Gatica, leafy greens such as spinach, kale, and collard greens are packed with vitamins C, E, and K, along with key minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron. They help fight inflammation and protect against oxidative damage, which can occur when kidneys are under stress.
2. Tart cherries
Tart cherries are high in vitamin A and antioxidants, which help lower blood pressure. Since high blood pressure is a leading cause of kidney damage, including tart cherries in your diet can help maintain healthy blood pressure and support kidney health.

Tofu, a plant-based protein, is a great alternative to meat, particularly when trying to reduce the strain on your kidneys. Animal proteins can create an acidic environment in the body, which may overwhelm kidneys, especially if they are already under pressure.
