Shah Rukh Khan’s wife, Gauri Khan, has rented a flat in Mumbai’s upscale Khar West locality to accommodate household staff while their iconic residence, Mannat, undergoes renovations.
The newly rented apartment is located in Pankaj Society and is just 100 metres away from a duplex she previously leased in the same area.
Rental Details: Flat Size, Lease Duration, and Cost
According to documents accessed via Zapkey.com, the flat measures 725 sq ft and is situated on the 4th floor (Flat No. 6). The property is being leased from Sanjay Kishor Ramani at a monthly rent of ₹1.35 lakh, with a refundable security deposit of ₹4.05 lakh. The lease agreement spans three years and includes a 5% annual rent escalation.
Back in April, Gauri Khan had signed a lease agreement for two duplexes in the elite Pali Hill area of Khar, with a total rental value of ₹8.67 crore over three years. These properties are likely also linked to logistical needs around the ongoing renovation work at Mannat.
Mannat Renovation Plan: Two New Floors Proposed
The Khan family’s sea-facing bungalow, Mannat, is reportedly undergoing a luxurious makeover. As per media sources, Gauri Khan has approached coastal authorities seeking approval to add two additional floors to their existing six-storey modern annex building within the Mannat compound. The proposed expansion could take the total height of the structure to eight floors.
Built in 1914, Mannat is considered a heritage property and a Mumbai landmark, often visited by fans and tourists. It is estimated to be worth around ₹200 crore. The new renovation proposal carries a projected cost of ₹225 crore, further adding to the grandeur of the superstar’s residence.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Journey to Buying Mannat
In a past radio interview, SRK shared a personal anecdote about purchasing Mannat. He revealed that his mother-in-law, Savita Chhibber, had once criticized their initial apartment in Mumbai for being too small.
Coming from Delhi, where bungalows are more common than flats, SRK said he felt drawn to Mannat because it reminded him of homes in the capital.
Shah Rukh Khan finalized the deal for Mannat around Gauri Khan’s birthday in 2001. He took a substantial loan to finance the purchase. Due to budget limitations at the time, Gauri Khan personally took charge of designing the interiors, turning the residence into one of Bollywood’s most iconic homes.
