Actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani recently revealed that she declined Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 offer in the year 2014 to focus on her career as a politician. Back then, she was also offered a film with late Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor, however, she walked away from both the projects after being elected as a Cabinet Minister. On June 29, Smriti attended inaugural UK edition of the We The Women 2025 by Barkha Dutt. During the event, she spilled the beans on a 'well kept secret'. Opening up about the popular show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, she said, "We created the tradition of saas-bahu, we created the template for emotive family drama. She was the first one on the block and when we started we were given this God-forsaken time slot of 10:30 pm when India went to sleep.""I think it was to the credit of Ektaa Kapoor and her team that they took an absolutely dead slot and we were in the tailwinds of Amitabh Bachchan and Kaun Banega Crorepati, so the program was never positioned to succeed. It was always positioned as though it was a polite rejection. She pushed the envelope even then," she added.'Had to serve as Cabinet Minister' Revealing the most well kept secret about Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, the 49-year-old actress-politician shared, "I had a contract again in 2014 and I walked away from it because I had to serve the Indian Parliament as Cabinet Minister. I had two projects then - a film with the late Rishi Kapoor and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, but had to walk away from both because I got a call from the Prime Minister's office to take an oath."Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi to return?Ektaa's cult daily soap, which was a rage back in the 2000s, will reportedly return to the television screens for a brief period, with Smriti and Amar Upadhyay reprising their roles of Tulsi and Mihir, respectively. A few days back, reports stated that veteran actor Jeetendra will also be seen in the show. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by the makers yet. In fact, earlier this month, Smriti and Amar were spotted at Ektaa's Mumbai residence, and they celebrated her birthday as well as discussed the show’s development, reports stated. Smriti reportedly signed the dotted lines for the project recently, and she has already started shooting in the city with Z+ security. If reports are to be believed, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi will also bring back other members from the original cast, including Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, and more.
