Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) reached a milestone in its renewable energy journey by crossing 15,000 megawatts (MW) of operational capacity. The company confirmed on Monday that it has achieved a total capacity of 15,539.9 MW, making it the fastest and largest build-out of green energy in the country’s history.

This substantial portfolio includes 11,005.5 MW from solar power, 1,977.8 MW from wind energy, and an additional 2,556.6 MW through wind-solar hybrid installations. With this, AGEL has become the first and only renewable energy company in India to achieve such a scale, driven primarily through greenfield developments.

Celebrating the milestone, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani shared a message on X, highlighting both the magnitude and meaning of the accomplishment. “Delighted to share that Adani Green has surpassed 15,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, marking the largest and fastest green energy build-out in India's history,” he posted. He added that the achievement stretches from “the desert landscapes of Khavda to a proud place among the world's Top 10 Green Power Producers,” and represented AGEL’s long-term dedication to sustainability and national progress.

AGEL’s Chief Executive Officer Ashish Khanna echoed the sentiment, and said, “Surpassing the 15,000 MW milestone is a moment of immense pride. This achievement is a testament to our team's relentless focus and dedication.” He credited the company’s success to the leadership of the Adani Group and consistent support from investors, customers, and partners.

Khanna elaborated on the firm's plans going ahead and said, “We aim to accelerate even faster from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030, remaining steadfast in our mission to power India and the world with sustainable energy solutions,” he added.

Khavda Project

AGEL is currently building what is set to become the world’s largest renewable energy project — a 30,000 MW facility at Khavda in Gujarat’s Kutch region. Spread across 538 square kilometres, this mega-project is nearly five times the size of Paris and is expected to be visible from space. To date, AGEL has operationalised 5,355.9 MW of renewable energy capacity at the Khavda site alone.

The company said that its current operational portfolio is capable of powering approximately 7.9 million homes and supplying electricity to thirteen Indian states, including the entire northeast region.
