How do they commit fraud?
Creating an interface exactly like the original website, these fake websites look so real that the customer gets deceived. Fake offers like big discounts, limited stock, or gifts are shown on disposable domains. User details are stolen. In which sensitive data like mobile numbers, bank details, OTP, and passwords are stolen. Some websites can harm you further by putting viruses in your device.
How to identify disposable domains?
If the link of a website has extensions like .click, .buzz, .monster, .shop-now, then be careful.
If there is a spelling mistake in the name of a website like google, amaz0n
Check thoroughly before clicking on the link received on social media or SMS/email.
If the domain name is very new or it is not showing up on the internet when searched, do not shop from it.
How is it so easy to create disposable domains?
These domains can be purchased at a very low price. They can be set up online in a few minutes. Once the work is done, they can be deleted or closed immediately. Scammers can create hundreds of fake websites at a time. It is difficult to trace them because they disappear immediately.
How to avoid this fraud?
Always shop from trusted and official websites. Before clicking on the link, check it by searching it on Google. Avoid websites with fake offers or discounts. Install anti-virus and security tools in your browser or mobile. If you suspect a cyber scam, immediately complain to cybercrime.gov.in.
