Wimbledon prize money 2025: How much are tennis players netting per round?

The Wimbledon main draws get underway today and there is big money on offer for both male and female competitors. Tournament chiefs have bumped up the prize money significantly since last year's edition, giving players even more incentive to go on a deep run at SW19 - as if the prospect of lifting the prestigious title was not enough on its own.

Carlos Alcaraz is aiming to make it three Wimbledon triumphs in a row, having come out on top in 2023 and 2024. And for the women, Barbora Krejcikova is aiming to become the first player to retain their title since Serena Williams managed it nine years ago.

Wimbledon prize money breakdown

Overall, the All England Club has increased the total prize money pot by 8.2 per cent from 2024. The tournament has awarded equal prize money to men and women since 2007, and the same rule applies this year.

The winners' category is the largest beneficiary of the prize money boost as it has seen an 11.1 per cent increase up to a whopping £3million before tax. There is then a sharp drop-off to the runner-up spot, but £1.52m is still enough to make a big splash in even a top player's bank account.

Wimbledon chiefs have pledged £775,000 to each of the two losing semi-finalists, and £400,000 for each of the four losing quarter-finalists. A run to the fourth round is worth £240,000, while a third-round appearance will net a player £152,000, and £99,000 is reserved for stars who lose out in the second round.

Aside from the winner, the next-largest prize money boost has been allocated to first-round losers, who will take home £66,000 each - a 10 per cent rise from last year.

Outside of the main draws, the winning men's or women's doubles pair will split £680,000 between them, while the victorious mixed doubles pair will share £135,000.
