For trains departing before 2 pm, the chart will be prepared at 9 pm the previous night. There will also be changes in the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) from July, which will allow more than 1.5 lakh tickets to be booked per minute.
Railways is preparing to make several changes for the convenience of passengers. The biggest change will be in the reservation system. The ticket booking system will be made more transparent and convenient. Passengers will know eight hours before the train departs whether their ticket is confirmed or not. Currently, the reservation chart is prepared four hours before the train departs, which causes inconvenience to passengers on the waiting list.
Especially passengers from far-flung areas face problems due to the situation not being clear till the last moment. The new reservation system will be implemented by December 2025. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently reviewed these reforms and took many major decisions.

According to the Railway Board's proposal, the reservation charts of trains which have to depart before 2 PM will be prepared by 9 PM the previous day. This will enable those on the waiting list to know their confirmation status in advance. This will enable them to make alternative travel arrangements if needed.
Railway Minister approved the proposalThe Railway Minister has approved the proposal. He says that the ticket booking system should be transparent, easy and effective. All systems should be made state-of-the-art keeping the passenger experience at the centre. Every step from ticket booking to travel should be technology based and passenger friendly. The task of making the new reservation system easy has been given to the Centre for Information System. The new system will be about ten times more capable than the current capacity.
The booking capacity will also increase. Currently, 32,000 tickets are booked in a minute. In the new system, more than 1.5 lakh tickets will be booked. The capacity of enquiries will also increase. Currently, there is a capacity of 4 lakh enquiries per minute, which will increase to 40 lakh. The new system will also have many other facilities. Reservation forms can be filled in many Indian languages. There will also be an option to choose the seat of your choice. There will be special facilities for the handicapped, students and patients. There will be a fare calendar, which will tell how much the fare is on which day.
Tatkal ticket rules will be strict from July 1stTo curb touts, Tatkal ticket booking has been made extremely practical. This will be made effective from July 1. In the new system, only certified passengers will be able to book Tatkal tickets. For this, registration will have to be done on IRCTC website or app.
OTP based verification will also be started for Tatkal tickets by the end of July. Its verification will be done through Aadhar card or other government ID available in Digi Locker. The Railway Minister has instructed the officials to make the verification system highly comprehensive and practical, so that the identity of the passenger can be ensured.
