Popular television actress Deepika Kakkar has opened up for the first time about her recent and harrowing health journey. Diagnosed with Stage 2 liver cancer Deepika underwent robotic surgery and spent 11 days in the hospital. Now discharged and slowly recovering she shared her experience in a heartfelt vlog on her husband Shoaib Ibrahims YouTube channel. Out and about after surgery In the video Deepika known for Sasural Simar Ka can be seen stepping out for the first time since her surgery not for a check-up but for a family outing with husband Shoaib and their son Ruhaan. Until now outings had been limited strictly to hospital visits. Shoaib revealed “After talking to the doctor we decided to take her out to lift her mood. Everything she does—whether its going out or eating—is done with the doctor’s permission.” Lightening the mood Shoaib teased Deepika saying “A talkative and social person like her shouldn’t be kept locked at home!” Robotic surgery helped her heal faster Deepika credited her quick recovery to robotic surgery saying “I recovered this quickly because of robotic surgery. Open surgery usually takes much longer. When we first met our doctor he said robotic surgery would be the best option since the tumor hadn’t spread.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Dipika (@ms.dipika) Six precision cuts no open surgery Explaining further Shoaib added “In open surgery there’s usually an L-shaped incision on the stomach but in robotic surgery Deepika had six small incisions at different spots. Through these the camera and tools were inserted.” Deepika elaborated that not every patient is eligible for robotic surgery “It depends on the case. For transplant patients robotic surgery is usually not an option.” She also explained the initial risks and how her doctor handled them“Our doctor Dr. Somanath was very enthusiastic about trying robotic surgery. But they had my consent in case anything went wrong—like heavy bleeding—and they needed to open the body during the procedure. Thankfully it all went smoothly without any complications.”   View this post on Instagram A post shared by Dipika (@ms.dipika) Now with small robotic stitches healing across her abdomen Deepika is on the mend—stronger grateful and ready to slowly return to her regular routine.
