There was a time when Bollywood titans Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan seemed to be locked in a cold war of words, with subtle digs and pointed jabs grabbing headlines. Whether it was the timing of their film releases, '3 Idiots' and 'My Name Is Khan', hitting theatres just two months apart or cheeky public remarks, the rivalry was hard to miss. But Aamir has now called it “childish,” and revealed how their equation has evolved over the years.

Aamir Khan on war of words with Shah Rukh Khan

In a recent interview with Lallantop, Aamir addressed the infamous “chichora” label that both he and Shah Rukh once used for each other. “Actually ek period tha jab Shah Rukh aur main ek dusre ke liye kaafi kuch bol rahe the. Shayad vo naa khush the mujhse, because I don’t talk about others in my interviews. Anyway, let’s leave all that behind. Shah Rukh is a good friend of mine. When our careers started, there was natural competition between us. But that faded away 10–15 years ago, at least from my side, and I think from his side as well. It was childish behaviour,” he said.

One of the more controversial moments in their public feud came when Aamir jokingly claimed he had named his pet dog “Shah Rukh,” a statement that sparked considerable backlash before he later clarified. Reflecting on that era, Aamir said, “Shah Rukh aksar mujhpe mazak karta rehta hain naa har saal jab award function hota hai, main toh jaata nahi hun. Toh har saal mazak voh mujhpe karte rehte hain.”

Aamir, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's bond

Thankfully, those barbed exchanges are a thing of the past. Today, the two stars share a warm friendship. Aamir shared a glimpse of their off-screen camaraderie, revealing their late-night hangouts with Salman Khan. “We often make plans to catch up, and we never stop at one drink… it’s usually till morning, 7 am, not just with Salman but with Shah Rukh too. This has happened eight to 10 times till now,” he said.

Aamir and Salman, who starred together in the cult comedy 'Andaz Apna Apna' back in 1994, haven’t collaborated on a film since. Fans of Bollywood’s three Khans — Shah Rukh, Aamir, and Salman — have long hoped to see the trio share screen space. Aamir earlier revealed that all three actors have had conversations and are “waiting for the right script” to reunite them on screen.
