WhatsApp New Feature 2025: WhatsApp's new update includes status ads and paid channel subscriptions, which will give creators a chance to earn and users will get access to exclusive content. WhatsApp, which was known for its ad-free experience till now, is now introducing the feature of advertising and paid channel subscriptions on its platform (WhatsApp New Feature 2025). Meta recently announced this, making it clear that the company is now moving towards monetizing WhatsApp like its other platforms.

What will be the main changes?

Ads in Status: Now advertisements will appear in between the status in WhatsApp's "Updates" tab. This will work like Instagram Stories, where users will see promotional content from brands in between friends' statuses.

Promoted Channels: Now brands and creators can promote their channels to get more visibility. This feature will be especially beneficial for those who want to build an audience on WhatsApp.

Paid Channel Subscriptions: Channel admins will now be able to charge their followers for subscriptions for exclusive content. Initially, Meta will not take any commission from this, but there are plans to take up to 10% in the future.

What will change for users?

If you use WhatsApp only to chat with friends and family, then there will be no change in your experience.

But if you use Status or Channels, you may have to face ads and paid content.

What will happen to privacy?

Meta says that only limited information such as your language, city, and the channels you follow will be used to show ads. Information from your personal chats or groups will not be used.
