During the financial year 2025-26, during April to May, industrial production gained 1.8 percent on an annual basis as compared to 5.7 percent in the same period a year ago. Ecra’s chief economist Aditi Nair has said that due to early rains, it has directly affected the activities of the mining sector and has reduced the demand for electricity, due to which these two sub-sectors of IIP have declined in the month of May, while the manufacturing sector has slowed down.
