Oil companies have reduced the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by up to Rs. 60. The new rates came into effect on Tuesday July 1. However the price of the 14-kg domestic gas cylinder used in homes has not changed. After the price cut a commercial gas cylinder in Delhi now costs Rs. 1665 down from the earlier price of Rs. 1723.50. A similar price cut was also made last month. This is good news for businesses like hotels restaurants and roadside food stalls which use these commercial cylinders in large numbers. With the lower gas price their daily running costs will come down helping them save money and possibly offer better service or lower prices to their customers. 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder rates In Delhi one cylinder now costs Rs. 1665 (earlier it was Rs. 1723.50). Kolkata: now Rs. 1769 down Rs. 57 Mumbai: now Rs. 1616 down Rs. 58.50 Chennai: now Rs. 1823.50 Patna: now Rs. 1929.50 Bhopal: now Rs. 1787.50 This is the fourth straight month that oil companies have lowered prices for the 19‑kg cylinder. Earlier cuts were: Rs. 41 in April Rs. 14.50 in May and Rs. 24 in June. Cheaper commercial cylinders are good news for hotels restaurants and roadside eateries because gas is a big part of their running costs. There is no change in the price of the regular 14.2‑kg household cylinder. It still costs: Delhi: Rs. 853 Mumbai: Rs. 852.50 Kolkata: Rs. 879 Chennai: Rs. 868.50
