The Indian entertainment industry is grappling with the shocking and sudden loss of model and actress Shefali Jariwala, who passed away at the age of 41 following a suspected cardiac arrest. Known widely as the ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl, Shefali’s unexpected demise has triggered an outpouring of grief from colleagues, friends, and family.
Among those deeply affected is her former husband, Harmeet Singh of the popular musical duo Meet Bros. Harmeet, who was married to Shefali from 2005 to 2009, took to Instagram on Saturday to share his sorrow and reflect on their past.
Harmeet Singh opens up on Shefali's death
"I'm absolutely shattered and in disbelief after hearing about Shefali's sudden and untimely demise," wrote Harmeet in a heartfelt note posted alongside a photo of Shefali. “We shared a few beautiful years together — a time I'll always chold close to my heart.”
Though the couple parted ways over a decade ago, Harmeet’s words reveal the bond they once shared. He extended his condolences to Shefali’s family, writing, “My heartfelt condolences to her parents, husband Parag, and sister Shivani.” Harmeet added that the physical distance made his grief even harder to bear, stating, “Being far away made the grief even more difficult to bear.”
In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Harmeet shared, "I remember going to Bangladesh for a show about two-three years ago. Shefali and I flew back together in a private plane. Shefali and I sat next to each other and spoke for quite a long time," he recalled.
Funeral Held in Mumbai After Sudden Cardiac Arrest
Shefali was reportedly brought to Bellevue Multi-specialty Hospital around 11 AM, where she was declared dead on arrival. Initial reports suggest she suffered a cardiac arrest. Her final rites were performed in Mumbai, attended by close friends and family.
Shefali Jariwala, who rose to fame in the early 2000s with her electrifying performance in the remix music video Kaanta Laga, leaves behind a legacy remembered fondly by fans and industry peers alike.
