'Maa' Box Office Collection Day 4: Kajol’s latest offering 'Maa' might have opened to modest numbers, but the emotional family drama managed to gain momentum over its opening weekend. However, the film hit a speed bump on Monday and suffered a significant drop in collections.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Maa' brought in ₹1.97 crore on its fourth day, marking a sharp 72% decline from its weekend business. This dip brought the total domestic box office collection to ₹19.62 crore. Despite the slowdown, the film has now surpassed the lifetime business of Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency', which had collected ₹18.35 crore.

On Tuesday, the film saw a slight recovery, reportedly earning around ₹2.25 crore and bringing the updated total to ₹19.90 crore net in India. Monday’s occupancy across Hindi circuits stood at 12.67%, with the morning shows starting slow at 6.97%, gradually rising to 15.05% by night.

In terms of city-wise data, the National Capital Region (NCR) reported the highest occupancy at 16.50% across 633 shows. Mumbai followed with 14.50% from 473 shows, while Pune recorded a 12.25% occupancy with 193 screenings.

Though the Monday figures raise concern, Maa’s ability to outperform recent similar releases proves Kajol still commands box office pull. The coming days will determine whether the film can sustain momentum or fade out mid-week.

About 'Maa'

Backed by producers Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, and Kumar Mangat Pathak, Maa features Kajol in the lead as a determined mother who battles supernatural forces to protect her daughter from a deadly curse. Helmed by director Vishal Furia, the film also features Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma in key roles.

ABPLive review of the movie reads: "Kajol delivers a powerful performance, breathing life into her role as a determined mother. 'Maa' is not a horror film in the traditional sense, but it’s an emotionally driven story of motherhood wrapped in mythological mystique. It’s a decent watch, especially for those looking for something beyond formulaic horror."
