Actress Nashi is facing accusations of fraud after an investigation revealed that she had never attended the school she listed on her application for the national university entrance exam in 2008.

According to China Dailythe controversy came to light following a June interview, during which Nashi claimed she graduated from the Shanghai Theater Academy through a commissioned training program aimed at developing specialized talent for ethnic and underdeveloped regions. Nashi hails from Inner Mongolia.

The actress has since come under public scrutiny for her educational background and career trajectory. Under the terms of the program, graduates are required to return to Inner Mongolia to work in their designated fields. However, after completing her undergraduate studies at the Shanghai Theater Academy in 2012, Nashi pursued a master’s degree in Norway, raising questions about her adherence to the program’s requirements.

The Inner Mongolia Education Department then launched an investigation into Nashi’s education. On June 21, the department released a statement revealing that Nashi had registered for the 2008 university entrance exam as a graduating student from Hohhot No. 8 Middle School, a school where she had no official student record. This finding led the department to describe the case as “suspected fraud in college application documents.”

Though Nashi’s documents were legally returned following a review, the authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing. They vowed to hold any relevant parties accountable in accordance with the law and promised to review existing policies to strengthen oversight and prevent similar incidents in the future.

This case has raised broader concerns about the enforcement of contracts and the oversight of government-funded special training programs. Online commentators have expressed concerns that this incident exposes potential abuses within the education system and has called for better regulation of such programs.

At 36, Nashi made her screen debut in 2019 with the film “S.W.A.T.” and later gained widespread recognition for her roles in the “Creation of the Gods” films.
