
Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): CM Mohan Yadav renewed his appeal for water conservation as Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, which has been running for three months across the state, concluded on Monday.
The closing ceremony of the campaign was held in Khandwa where Yadav inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of water conservation works worth over Rs 1,518 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the programme virtually and said that the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan became a mass movement with public participation under CM Yadav's leadership. In his message sent for the conclusion ceremony, PM Modi congratulated the people of Madhya Pradesh, especially water ambassadors, women of self-help groups and farmers for their hard work and dedication.
Modi said Indian culture has a tradition of conservation of rivers, wells, ponds and stepwells. He praised the 90-day campaign that started from Gudi Padwa and described it as an inspiring effort towards public awareness to make rivers clean and perennial. The Prime Minister said efforts to conserve water with public participation will contribute to the country's progress.
Major development works inaugurated
CM Yadav inaugurated development works worth Rs 1,568 crore and performed Bhoomi Pujan during the ceremony. He inaugurated 57,207 works of panchayats for Rs 578 crore and 888 water conservation works in watershed development components across the state.
Four irrigation projects including Jawar Micro Irrigation Project of Khandwa district were inaugurated along with 74 renovated water structures. The CM also launched software for monitoring and management of watershed projects. Khandwa received Rs 174 crore for bypass and other roads.
“Ek bagiya maa ke naam” campaign launched
A new campaign called Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam was also launched. Under this scheme, 30,000 women will get assistance of Rs 3 lakh to develop gardens by planting fruit trees on one acre land. The amount will be given in three phases for plantation, fencing, irrigation and other works. Total expenditure of Rs 900 crore will be spent on this campaign over three years.
Other Announcements
CM announced that eligible Ladli Behna Yojana beneficiaries will get an additional Rs 250 before Rakshabandhan. From Bhai Dooj after Diwali, Ladli sisters will receive Rs 1500 monthly, with government committed to sending Rs 3,000 to accounts before upcoming elections.
Laptops and scooties will be distributed to meritorious students on July 4th. Solar pumps are being given to farmers with 90 per cent subsidy. Approval was given to promote government officers stuck for 9 years.
Water warriors who did excellent work during the campaign were honoured during the ceremony.
Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Panchayat Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, Tribal Affairs Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silavat and other were present.
CM visit to Dadaji Dham
CM Yadav reached Dadaji Dham temple and participated in Bhoomi Pujan for reconstruction work. He bowed at Samadhi of Bade Dadaji Keshavanand Maharaj and Chote Dadaji Hariharanand Maharaj and performed puja. He joined religious assembly, took blessings from saints and had prasadi before leaving for Bhopal. Five kanyas started Bhoomi Pujan by digging soil. The ceremony happened between 11:40 am to 12:15 pm. Temple reconstruction will cost Rs 100 crore with 108 pillars including 84 open and 24 covered pillars. Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya attended and gave Rs 500 each to saints and girls.
