NEET UG Counselling 2025: The Madhya Pradesh High Court in Indore has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide NEET UG 2025 a second chance for applicants who were affected by power failures at centres in Indore and Ujjain. This is a big step forward. The court said that these students were unfairly hurt through no fault of their own and decided that their ranks should only be based on the re-test that was coming up.Justice Subodh Abhyankar issued the directive just as the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) was getting ready to start the NEET UG 2025 counselling procedure. The court allowed counselling to start, but it made it clear that all admissions would be temporary until the results of the re-exam were announced. This choice comes after about 200 students asked for it because they had a lot of trouble during the NEET exam on May 4. After all, the power went out. They said they had to write their papers in poorly lit rooms with no extra time. Some exam centres, like ILVA Higher Secondary School, Shri Vaishnav Academy, and Madhav College in Indore, were said to have been affected. In response, the NTA, with the help of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, said that backup plans including inverters, flashlights, and emergency lighting were in place and that performance data didn't show a big disadvantage. In fact, a number of candidates from the afflicted centres got more than 600 out of 720.The court, on the other hand, reaffirmed the notion of natural justice and stressed the need to make sure everyone has a fair chance. It told the NTA to quickly set up the re-exam and solely use those marks for ranking.Importantly, only applicants who filed petitions before June 3, 2025—the date of the tentative answer key—can take the re-test. People who file after the scores are revealed will not be determined. This choice could delay the NEET UG 2025 counselling process, which will affect more than 12 lakh applicants.
