
Ex-Indian Hockey player Bimal Lakra collapsed on his field in Tansar, Simdega, Jharkhand, prompting him to be admitted in Curesta Hospital in Ranchi. According to a report in Aaj Tak, Hockey Jharkhand Vice President and Simdega Hockey President Manoj Konbegi revealed that Lakra had gone to his field and fell unconscious.Aaj Tak went on to report that the 45-year-old, whose native village is in Tansar, Simdega, has visited his village these days. After falling unconscious, Lakra was taken to Kurdeg for medical attention from where he was referred to Simdega Sadar Hospital. A CT scan done in Simdega Sadar Hospital where a blood clot was spotted and hence, was admitted to Curesta hospital in Ranchi.The sporting fraternity would hope for Lakra to recover as quickly as possible and live his life normally moving forward.Bimal Lakra was part of the men's hockey team that won sliver medal at the 2002 Asian GamesMeanwhile, Lakra played for the national hockey team as a mid-fielder and was part of the side that won the silver medal at the 2002 Asian Games hosted by Busan, South Korea. Hosts South Korea had won the men's contingent after defeating India by a margin of 4-3.Lakra's elder brother Birendra Lakra and younger sister Asunta Lakra have also represented India in field hockey.
