As Ram Gopal Varma ’s 'Sarkar' completes 20 years, Abhishek Bachchan is reflecting on what it meant to share screen space with his legendary father, Amitabh Bachchan , for the very first time.

"It was terrifying" - says Abhishek Bachchan

In a recent interview with Screen, Abhishek candidly admitted, “Facing the camera with him for the first time was terrifying.” The gravity of the moment wasn’t lost on him—he wasn’t just acting alongside Amitabh Bachchan the actor, but the phenomenon, the icon, the presence.

Abhishek recalls the awe he felt while watching a rough cut of the film with director Ram Gopal Varma. “Ramu called me to watch a rough line-up,” he shared. “I watched the first five minutes and I thought I’m done. It was a close-up of my father looking up into the camera from a saucer he’s sipping tea from. No dialogue, nothing. Just that one shot. And it summed up the power his character held.” It’s moments like these that shaped Abhishek as an actor, offering not just a lesson in craft but also in grace and presence.

Most loved chemistry
