Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated comedy caper Housefull 5 has proven to be a box office juggernaut. Packed with a star-studded ensemble and an entertaining whodunnit plot, the film has not only delighted audiences but also soared past several major releases of 2025.
After surpassing Raid 2, the film has now overtaken the lifetime collection of L2: Empuraan, securing its position as the second-highest-grossing Indian film of the year—just behind the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava.
Housefull 5 Box Office Collection
Housefull 5 hit theatres on June 6 and opened to a strong response. The comedy continued to perform well in the following weeks, showing consistent growth at the box office.
According to the makers: “In 25 days, the film has earned ₹300 crore at the global box office and ₹200 crore net at the domestic box office.”
This puts the film ahead of Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which earned ₹255 crore, and Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan, which collected ₹265.5 crore.

Still Behind Chhaava, But Close
While Housefull 5 continues to rake in impressive numbers, it still trails behind the year’s biggest blockbuster, Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna.
"Chhaava collected a massive ₹807.88 crore worldwide and ₹601.54 crore in India."
Despite this gap, Akshay Kumar’s film has made a solid mark, emerging as the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.
