According to the data released by the Department of Sharia Documentation of the Ministry of Justice of Kuwait, 2,916 Kuwaiti men married Kuwaiti women from January 2025 to April 2025. At the same time, marriage cases of foreign women were only 332. During this time 133 Kuwaiti women also married foreign men. 44 Kuwaiti men and 10 women married Bedoon (peopleless people).

So many people divorced

Talking about divorce figures, a total of 1,419 Kuwaiti husband and wife divorced each other in these four months. Apart from this, 332 Kuwaiti men divorced their non-Kuwati wives and 141 Kuwaiti women from non-Kuwati husbands. That is, more than 15 divorce cases have been reported every day. This figure raises questions on Kuwait's family structures and social changes.

An important reason for this change is being said to be the amendment made in the rich decree. It has now been clarified that a foreign woman who marries a Kuwaiti man will not get citizenship automatically. Talking about marriage trends, now 75 percent of marriages are taking place only among Kuwaiti citizens, while the rate of marriage between foreign couples is only 13.4 percent. The marriage between Kuwaiti male and foreign woman has been limited to 8.4 percent and foreign men and Kuwaiti woman to only 3.2 percent.
