Elon Musk, one of the world's richest businessmen and owner of social media platform X, announced the appointment of Nikita Bier - a prolific user of the microblogging site - as Head of Product at X in a recent social media post.
Notably, in 2022 when Musk acquired Twitter for a whopping $44 billion, Bier had approached the Tesla founder via social media, urging him for a position. Following news of his appointment, Bier revisited his 2022 post, commenting: "Never give up."
In an X post dated 25 April 2022, Bier had tagged Musk, writing, "Hire me to run Twitter as VP of Product. I've been building social apps for 11 years - and not in a way that leads products to decay like a typical Big Tech 'product director dad.' Twitter has the potential to be the leading messenger, groups app & content creation tool."
From EV Subsidies To Big, Beautiful Bill: Here Are 5 Major Points Of Disagreement Between Elon Musk & US Prez Donald TrumpBier joins X as the platform integrates with Musk's AI venture, xAI, though his specific role regarding xAI's offerings - particularly the Grok conversational AI system - remains unclear. His entrepreneurial background includes selling polling platform TBH to Facebook (now Meta) in 2017, followed by Discord's acquisition of Gas, his teen-focused social networking app, in 2023.
"While I already spend every waking hour on this app, I'll now spend that time helping others unlock the same value," Bier stated in a post. "We'll certainly leverage Grok's power to create hyper-relevant timelines and help people understand everything happening."
