The monsoon season brings much-needed relief from the heat but also poses challenges for our hair. Excess humidity, a damp scalp, and a lack of sun exposure can weaken hair roots, leading to excessive hair fall. Aromatherapy offers a gentle yet effective solution through essential oils that strengthen hair and balance scalp health. Here are three of the best essential oils to prevent hair fall during the monsoon:
Rosemary Essential Oil – Stimulates Growth

Renowned for its ability to stimulate blood circulation to the scalp, rosemary essential oil strengthens hair follicles and promotes new hair growth. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties also help unclog hair follicles and nourish the roots.
How to use: Mix 2-3 drops of rosemary oil in a tablespoon of carrier oil (like coconut or jojoba) and massage gently into the scalp. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before washing.
Lavender Essential Oil – Soothes and Strengthens

Lavender oil not only has a calming aroma, but this essential oil is also excellent for improving scalp health. It helps reduce stress-induced hair fall, controls dandruff, and has antimicrobial properties that protect the scalp from fungal infections common during monsoon.
How to use: Add 3 drops of lavender oil to your regular hair oil or mix into a hair mask. Use once or twice a week for best results.
Cedarwood Essential Oil – Balances Oil Production

Excess humidity during monsoon can cause the scalp to become overly oily, leading to clogged pores and hair fall. Cedarwood oil helps balance sebum production and improves circulation to the scalp. Its antifungal properties also help keep the scalp clean and dandruff-free.
How to use: Blend 2 drops of cedarwood oil with your regular hair oil and massage into the scalp before shampooing.
Adding these essential oils into your monsoon hair care routine can strengthen hair roots, improve scalp health, and reduce hair fall naturally. As always, do a patch test before using essential oils and dilute them properly with carrier oils.
