New Delhi: At 77, the legendary Mumtaz remains an icon of grace and beauty, proving that age is truly just a number when it comes to radiating star power. Despite stepping away from the silver screen many years ago, the veteran actress continues to turn heads whenever she graces an event or interacts with the media. Now, the 'Prem Kahani' actress is opening up about what keeps her glowing and it’s not all just good genes.

In a candid chat with The Times of India, Mumtaz discussed how she maintains her youthful appearance. She revealed that although she has never undergone a facelift, she regularly uses facial fillers to keep herself looking refreshed.

“I have not done any facelifts. But whenever I feel too tired, I use fillers on the left and right sides of the face," she shared. The effects of the fillers, she noted, typically last for one to two months, and she gets them done every four months.

The veteran star also addressed the ongoing conversation around cosmetic enhancements in the entertainment industry. Taking a practical stance, Mumtaz defended young actors who opt for plastic surgery, saying there's no shame in wanting to look your best.

“If you feel there is anything less in you, then you must rectify it. It is not a crime to change it. Everybody wants to look good and beautiful. Even if I feel like I need something I need to work on, I will change it. Even if I have to do a plastic surgery, I will do it. If that makes me look beautiful, why not? Everybody should do it," she said.

Rising Concerns Around Cosmetic Treatments

Meanwhile, Mumtaz's candid perspective on cosmetic enhancements comes at a time when conversations around beauty treatments and their risks have taken centre stage — especially following the sudden and shocking demise of actress Shefali Jariwala. Famously known as the Kaanta Laga girl, Shefali tragically passed away on June 27 at the age of 42, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest.

In the days following her death, reports surfaced indicating that Shefali had been undergoing anti-ageing treatments for several years and was allegedly self-medicating. Investigations also revealed that she may have taken certain injections without medical supervision.
