The schedule for the 2025–26 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) is out, and the action kicks off on Sunday, December 14, with Perth Scorchers taking on Sydney Sixers at Optus Stadium. The tournament will run through to Sunday, January 25, when the grand Final is slated to be held.
Each evening promises thrilling T20 clashes across iconic venues in Australia, including the MCG, SCG, Gabba, Optus Stadium, and Adelaide Oval.
Many of Australia’s top cricketers may not feature for the majority of the tournament. This is because the national team will be engaged in a high-profile Ashes Test series against England during the same period.
Due to the clash in schedules, leading players are expected to be available for only a short two-week window, joining the BBL only after the final Ashes Test concludes on January 8. As a result, their participation will be limited primarily to the final stages of the league, including the knockout matches and the grand finale. Franchises may have to rely on their bench strength and international recruits for the bulk of the season before the return of their marquee local stars.
