
In a tragic maritime accident, four people have died and 38 more are missing, after a ferry carrying 65 people capsized off there coast located near the Indonesian island of Bali, amidst official reports by the country’s Search and Rescue agency, just on Thursday.
The ferry, KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, sunk almost 30 minutes after departure from the Banyuwangi port in East Java Province, on course to Bali on Wednesday night. Officials claimed that the ferry was carrying 53 passengers, 12 crew, and 22 vehicles.
Search operations commenced shortly after the accident occurred. As of Thursday, there have been 23 people rescued from the water.
No further details have been released regarding the cause of the accident or the condition of the missing people. The Search and Rescue agency continues and there will be further releases.
