Lucknow. The investigation report has now been revealed why Air India flight AI-171, which flew from Ahmedabad to London, has now been revealed. According to the report, the cause of this aircraft accident was not a technical fault, but a PIN of a ₹ 1,200, which was not inspected after repair. This human lapse killed 270 people.

Accident in 38 seconds of takeoff

Air India’s Dreamliner Aircraft Number VT-AP flew from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 13 at 1:39 pm. Just 38 seconds after flying, the aircraft of Ahmedabad B.J. The medical college hostel collided and crashed. The aircraft had 230 passengers, 12 crew members and 28 ground staff.

A minor lapse took a gigantic form

Investigation revealed that during the takeoff, a small metal pin in the railway seat was broken. The pin was replaced on 1 June, but was not inspected after repair. As soon as the pin broke, the captain’s seat moved back and in response, his hand went to the throttle lever, causing both engines to go into Idol mode and the aircraft lost speed. In this accident, only one passenger, UK resident Vivaskumar Ramesh, survived, who was sitting on the seat 11A. Despite being seriously injured, he managed to get out of the aircraft.

Revealed from FDR and CVR

India’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) received the black box (flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder) on 13 and 16 June. The investigation made it clear that the two engines were working completely normally. The engine stopped by accidentally bringing the throttle to “Idol”. As soon as the engine stopped, RAT system (Ram Air Turbine) became active, which confirms the main power supply had stopped.

DGCA’s tough stance

After the accident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India ordered an inquiry into all 33 Dreamliner aircraft of Air India. Of these, 26 aircraft were found to be safe, but 66 flights had to be canceled. DGCA has now instructed all airlines to check every part in the maintenance of their aircraft as ‘critical’. DGCA head Vikram Dev Said that every pin and bolt will now be seen seriously. There will be no compromise for security.

Global anxiety and accountability

After the accident, America’s NTSB, EASA of the European Union, and aircraft manufacturer Boeing and engine manufacturer Ge Aerospace also conducted a joint investigation. Although Boeing has described himself as directly free, its design and seat structure are being reviewed.

Boeing Ceo Kelly Ortberg In a statement that we are fully cooperating with the investigating agencies so that there is no such tragedy in future.

Large price for negligence

Experts say that even a small mistake of the pilot at such a low height (650 ft) can be fatal. This incident has given a strong message to the aviation industry that every screw, time and accurate investigation of every pin is mandatory.
