
The Chelsea players conducted a minute's silence at the start of their open training session today (Thursday) to pay tribute to the late Diogo Jota.
The Liverpool forward sadly passed away on Thursday morning after being involved in a car accident in the Spanish province of Zamora. Jota's brother, Andre Silva, was also in the car and has tragically passed away as well. To pay tribute to Jota, all of the Chelsea players and staff gathered together in the centre circle of their training base in Miami and conducted a minute's silence.
After the news was confirmed earlier in the morning, Chelsea released a statement on their social media channels. It read: "Everyone at Chelsea FC is devastated to learn of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre. Our thoughts go out to their family, friends and all at Liverpool FC at this incredibly difficult time."

It followed an earlier statement from Liverpool, reading: "Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.
"Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre's family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with our full support."
Chelsea winger Pedro Neto, who played alongside Jota during their days together at Wolves as well as also being international teammates at Portugal, has paid tribute to his friend on social media. Taking to Instagram, Neto posted a photo with the two together alongside a love heart and shining star emoji.
