Unity in the Congress Party
Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, following the guidance of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, urged party members to collaborate effectively. When asked about his aspirations for the Chief Minister role, he refrained from commenting. After offering prayers at the Chamundi Hills, he expressed that while efforts may falter, prayers will not, and he has conveyed his desires to the Almighty.
Political Speculations and Future Aspirations
In political circles, particularly within the ruling Congress, there have been ongoing speculations regarding a potential shift in the Chief Minister position by the end of this year, referencing a power-sharing agreement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. Shivakumar stated, 'I do not wish to engage in discussions at this moment. My focus is on the welfare of the state. Mallikarjun Kharge is our Congress President, and he has provided us with guidance. Let us work together in accordance with his words.'
Support from Family and Party Members
Meanwhile, Congress leader and former MP D.K. Suresh expressed his hope for his elder brother, D.K. Shivakumar, to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka, although he acknowledged that the position is currently occupied. He remarked that destiny, divine intervention, and public blessings play a role, and emphasized that everything has its time. Suresh added, 'I wish for my brother to one day hold the Chief Minister position, as he has served the party with loyalty. Many people across the state have supported the Congress party and believe that Shivakumar will get his chance.'
