Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has again been put under scrutiny after a significant blunder in the just-announced results of the PG third semester exam. In a strange twist, some students received 257 marks for a paper carrying only 100 marks, and in practicals carrying 30 marks, marks up to 225 were scored. This glaring discrepancy has left students confused, frustrated, and mentally distressed. Numerous students are now visiting the university repeatedly to have the mistakes corrected.According to media reports, students allege that due to these result irregularities, several mark sheets have been withheld, and some students have been wrongly marked as failed even though they appeared for all exams and claim to have performed well. They blame the university and college administration for the chaos. The test was written by some 9,000 students, of whom some 8,000 are said to have passed. But several students from the Hindi and English faculties have complained of discrepancies in their scores. Science faculty students have also complained, according to the media reports.Addressing the controversy, the Controller of Examinations of the university attributed the errors to technical or human error. He assured students that the problems would be fixed within two working days and corrected mark sheets would be issued accordingly.
